02.24.08 The BCMS is happy to announce their spring 2008 concerts—8:00 p.m. Saturday, Saturday, April 26 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Solebury, PA and 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27 at Newtown Presbyterian Church, Newtown, PA, which will feature soprano soloist Rochelle Ellis in Aaron Copland’s “In the Beginning.” Copland described this work an extended motet for chorus and mezzo-soprano “storyteller” and used as its text verses from the first chapter of Genesis which recount the story of the seven days of the creation of the world. Continuing the theme of “beginnings,” we have included motets from the 16th-19th centuries, which help trace the movement of choral music toward the present day; some enticing new arrangements of traditional spirituals and folk songs, which reflect our American choral roots; and some modern masterpieces from such composers as Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, Morten Lauridsen and Randall Thompson.

10.24.07 This fall has brought new energy and enthusiasm to our group of singers.  Under the leadership of our new music director, Ed McCall, we are preparing a program of  Christmas traditions, featuring works of Bach, Victoria, Handel, Sweelinck, and Lauridsen, together with sparkling new arrangements of familiar carols.

We have also welcomed several singers from Council Rock North High School, who are serving as interns with our chorus.  We are enjoying their voices while they have the benefit of singing with a more mature group of musicians
